Checklist for Planning a Boys Birthday Party

July 15, 2015 by Gabriella Diesendorf Leave a Comment

birthdayIt may be once a year, but for most kids, birthday is the most important day there is.

They are the stars, they get all the attention, and all the gifts as well. Their friends come over and they have so much fun. Often, they would say: “This is the best day ever!”

As for parents, they see it a bit different. They have to make sure everything goes as planned, that everyone’s included, and that nothing goes wrong. This means that preparations have to start on time, and that they have to be thorough.

Theme is mandatory

Your boy may seem too young to be involved in preparations, but having him choose games, decorations, and the cake will make him feel important, and this will give him more confidence later on.

See what he likes to watch, and what he likes to play. And if he is a bit older, see if you can turn his interests into a theme for his birthday party. In the end, it is his birthday, and it’s only fair he said what he likes and wants.

Dates, times, and lists

Now that you have a theme, it is time to choose the right place and time for the party. Book a venue in advance, and see if you like the party to start early or late in the afternoon, depending on what is more convenient.

Moving on to lists: lists of things to do and buy, and guest list. As simple as napkins and balloons may sound (no one ever forgets about balloons for a birthday party, right?), if you don’t put it on the list, you risk forgetting all about it.

Food and drinks

Once again, you should start from the theme: are you going to have dinosaur cupcakes, basketball cake, shark sandwiches, Ninja Turtles pizza, or Spiderman juice?.

The easiest thing is to decorate simple cakes and sandwiches in a new way and name it something exotic like: bug juice or tractor tire donuts. As for the cake, see what your child likes the most, but the safest bet is always chocolate cake.

Games

Have something interesting for the kids to do, like pin the light saber on Yoda, or water balloon piñata. Organize several games, divide them into two groups, and turn them into some sort of competition.

The kids will soon be cheering their favorites on and have the time of their lives. If you’d like to spice things up even more, have their favorite superhero attend their party and play with them. Superheroes is a great agency whose real-life Batmen, Supermen, and Spidermen will be more than willing to make your child’s party extra special.

After all the running, screaming, laughing, slipping, chasing, jumping, and eating, your birthday boy will be exhausted and will feel the need to lie down and sleep for a week. And, let’s be honest, so will you.

When the guests are gone and everything is cleared out, you will be happy to take a refreshing nap next to your boy. It will be a big and exhausting day for you as well.
