Living on the Edge: 4 Careers that Are Dangerously Satisfying

September 3, 2014 by Chaleigh Glass 1 Comment

Now, if you are like most people, you want more out of your career. Sadly, most of us sit in front of a desk and deal with annoying and boring coworkers. While true, there are plenty of fun and exciting careers that you can enjoy to the fullest.

With this in mind, here are four careers that are dangerously satisfying.

Truck driver in Alaska

Anyone who has seen the show Ice Truckers knows that truck driving in Alaska is dangerous and exciting. While true, it’s also rewarding for a host of reasons.

First, if you are a truck driver in Alaska, you can enjoy the wilderness all to yourself. Not only that, you can make the big bucks as companies pay drivers a lot of cash to drive out in this country. To learn how to drive trucks, you will want to first go to school and get your truck driver’s license.

North Shore Driving School Ltd. is up in Burnaby in Canada, and they do driving tests for a range of different types of drivers. There are lots of these options like this one out there when it comes to getting the appropriate training for you to hit the road up in the Yukon.

Then, if you are wise, you will drive for a couple of years to gain experience. After all this, you can!

Fisherman in the ocean

Now, if you like to get out of the way and enjoy your solitude, you should consider a career as a fisherman. When you are out in the water, you are going to face a host of issues including Mother Nature and the elements in general. But you will get a huge paycheck for the job.

Not only that, if you are smart, you can work half the year and bank your money.

Search and rescue

If you are in great shape and want to help people, you can work in search and rescue. Not only will you enjoy a steady paycheck, but you can save plenty of people. However, while it’s a glorious job, there are plenty of times when you won’t be busy. With that being said, if you like to rush out the door to save other people, consider working in search and rescue.

Contractor security overseas

Finally, if you want to make serious cash, consider contracting work in Afghanistan or Iraq. While you will make some money, you will also get to see a unique part of the world that most other people don’t get to see.

However, be warned, if you are scared of tense situations, working abroad in security is not for you.

With these four job possibilities, you can make an excellent income and have fun. Remember, if you don’t want to do it in front of a computer, you have plenty of options that pay well.
