Are you longing to “protect and serve” your country but simply do not have the time or resources for a college degree? Thankfully, several admirable careers in law enforcement are available for citizens without a degree.

Here are four law enforcement career options you might choose that do not require additional education after high school:
Police officer
A police officer is one of the most well-known law enforcement careers available. The primary responsibility of a police officer is to protect the lives and property of others. A police officer may be responsible for arrests, surveillance, or even mediation during a dispute.
College degrees are not required to become a police officer. Many police departments will train candidates with no more than a high school diploma or GED. The average salary for a police officer is $45,000.
Bailiff
Bailiffs are responsible for assisting with regulation in a courtroom. They ensure that all individuals follow the judge’s orders and that no risks are posed before, during, or after a trial. The average annual salary for a bailiff is $40,000.
Often, if you hold a high school diploma, as well as some form of law enforcement experience, you will be considered for a bailiff position without a degree.
Security officer
Security officers guard against vandalism, violence, and much more in a variety of environments. They may work in schools, corporate offices, or even casinos. Many jobs do not require that you have more than a high school diploma and less than 24 hours of on-the-job training to begin this position.
The average annual salary for a security officer is $24,000. There are security companies around the country that can provide the training and qualifications to be a security officer. It generally does not take extensive time to receive the training and the opportunity to assist and make a difference in the lives of others.
Member of the Armed Forces
Members of the Armed Forces include those who serve in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard. If you hold a high school diploma and are mentally and physically prepared, joining the Armed Forces can be an honorable way to defend your country.
Many officers are required to pass a physical exam for this position. The average annual salary for a member of the Armed Forces is $51,000.
