Taking your kids on an enjoyable vacation is probably one of your greatest dreams. A fun family vacation to play in the mountains gives you the opportunity to spend quality time with your kids they will remember for a lifetime.

This article will explain the types of fun activities your family can engage in while on a vacation in the mountains.

#1. Fishing

In mountainous regions, lakes and streams are everywhere. Since these regions are largely uninhabited, fishing is both safe and peaceful.

Many of the lakes are naturally stocked with a wide variety of fish. Make sure you buy a fishing license and the correct bait for your adventure. Even if you don’t catch anything, your kids will have a great time.

#2. Hiking

Many state and national parks have plenty of hiking trails to choose from. Some research will help you decide which trail and level of difficulty will be most appropriate for your family. Do you want to hike all day, or for a couple hours?

Do you want a leisurely stroll or a steep climb? Look for the most appropriate hike for your family.

#3. Rock climbing

When there are mountains, there are great places to climb. The whole family will get great exercise as they climb cliffs and mountains together. Since there are so many climbing rocks to choose from, you can carefully select the right one for the climbing skill level of your family.

Make sure you go with a professional or are fully prepared for rock climbing before you go.

#4. Mountain biking

Mountain bikes are expensive, but cheap to rent. Usually, you can rent a good one for less than $30 at a local store. When mountain biking, your whole family can get exercise while having a blast.

Again, research on the types of trails in your area will be smart to determine difficulty beforehand. You can also rent a bike rack or flat deck trailer to carry all your equipment.

#5. Skiing

High up in the cold mountains, there are miles of unexplored ski trails and beautiful sights to see. Enroll your kids in a beginner’s course and practice with your whole family. You will be skiing like professionals in no time.

The great outdoors are the perfect place to create unforgettable memories. There will be no cell phones or other electronics to distract and you might be able to talk to your kids for a while. Have fun, and remember to be safe.
