Pizza Hut Card For A Cause

December 4, 2011 by Maricel Rivera 2 Comments

Right after I got discharged from the emergency room yesterday afternoon, my friend and former high school classmate AA and I went to a nearby Pizza Hut to grab a quick lunch. It had been agreed upon that after lunch, I was to catch the earliest bus home, and then she would be off to mind her own business.

The supposed quick lunch lasted more than an hour. As it turned out, there were a lot of things to talk about and discuss, topics ranging from the trivial to the mind-boggling.

It was one of those rare moments when we got to talk about former classmates, about family and married life, about the common goal we found ourselves into together.

No, I’m not at all complaining. As a matter of fact, given the predicament I got myself into, I was especially thankful for her company.
I am one to normally not count the calories I consume, and she was one who oftentimes said the calories she was consuming were showing in all the wrong places.

But calorie count notwithstanding, we were practically devouring every morsel of food on our plates. It was already 3 p.m., and we were famished.

Finally, we decided that lunch was over and asked for our tab. Alongside the invoice, the waiter offered us a postcard, which according to him was worth 40 pesos. The card had Ms. Philippines Venus Raj in it, flocked by a group of very young children.

According to the card, proceeds will be donated to the UN’s World Food Programme to help feed children in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao.

We gladly obliged and got the card.

P40 pesos and proceeds will go for a cause? Not bad. I’ll look for one when I get to Pizza Hut. 🙂

I agree with you, Zen. It wasn’t bad at all.
